      This guide reviews the four basic components of a reference: author, date, title, and source and includes general guidelines for constructing a reference list. It also discusses confusing elements that are unique to electronic referencing, like digital object identifiers (DOIs), uniform resource locators (URLs), and version control. Numerous templates and examples are provided. This publication is protected by U.S. copyright law and the terms of the license agreement. Authorized Users may use materials for non-commercial use, and each Authorized User may print one copy for personal use. In addition to Authorized Users' user copies, Licensee is granted the right by the Licensor to print copies of APA Style Guide to Electronic References, Sixth Edition for its internal use but not for broader distribution. Licensed Material may not be used for any other purpose than those contemplated by this License including but not limited to instances wherein the Licensee is rewarded monetarily through the sale, resale, loan, transfer, hire or other form of exploitation of the Licensed Material. The copyright and title to any and all property interest in Licensed Material furnished by the Licensor shall be and remains with the Licensor. Licensee agrees to undertake to the use of reasonable endeavors to notify Authorized Users of the terms and conditions of this license and to take steps to protect the Licensed Material from unauthorized use or other breach of this License. No computer software is delivered as a part of this License and the License is not conditional upon the Licensee's ability to provide its own software or to use the Licensed Material provided under this License. Licensor warrants and represents that it has the complete right to enter into this Agreement and to deliver the Licensed Material. This warranty is in lieu of any and all other warranties, written or oral, express or implied, including without limitation, warranties of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose. Licensor expressly disclaims the implied warranties of merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose. There shall be no modification or amendment of this Agreement by Licensee. This License is not assignable. If any one or more of the provisions of the License shall for any reason be held to be invalid, illegal or nenforceable, the same shall not affect the validity or enforceability of any other provisions of the License.
